So, in theory the same cable adapter that works for the PS4 should work for the PS3. The PS3, however, is a bit of uncharted territory since the elgato was not made thinking of capturing audio from it, since in theory it's not even suppose to work. on the PS4, you have a solution, you can buy a special (and expensive) cable for the ELgato that allows you to connect your headset on the Elgato, so you can get the audio while you capture it. Thing is, if you capture footage on your console and try to get the audio via Headphones, the elgato will not record that audio since it's not coming through the HDMI. So, i got that going and i can capture all my footage on my PS3 no problem. Essentially, you need a certain type of HDMI splitter that breaks footage encryption protection. Capturing PS3 footage in a Elgato ( Hd 60 in my case ) requires some shanenigans.
